KPR takes a bold step toward sustainability in the safety footwear industry.
At KPR, we’ve always been committed to protecting people on the job — and now, we’re equally focused on protecting the planet. In a powerful collaboration with BASF, we are proud to announce the launch of a new line of safety shoes made with Elastopan® Loop, a cutting-edge polyurethane solution derived from recycled materials.

The partnership was officially unveiled on April 9, 2025, in Shanghai, China, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of sustainable safety footwear. Developed by BASF, Elastopan® Loop is part of their “Loop” product range and represents an exciting leap forward in polyurethane recycling technology.

“We are very pleased to commercialise the ‘Loop’ solution and deliver our first order to KPR in China,” said Silvia Mok, Vice President and Head of Polyurethanes Business Management, Performance Materials, Asia Pacific, BASF. “This collaboration not only drives the green transition for customers like KPR, but also offers the thriving footwear industry a new approach to reducing environmental impact.”
The patented technology behind Elastopan® Loop uses advanced liquefaction processes to transform polyurethane waste into high-quality raw materials suitable for footwear production. This recycled polyurethane not only meets industry standards — it also delivers the performance KPR customers expect, including durability, comfort, and reliability in demanding industrial environments.
For KPR, this collaboration is more than just a product innovation — it’s a step forward in our sustainability journey. By incorporating eco-friendly materials without compromising on quality or safety, we’re enabling workers across industries to make a conscious choice that benefits both people and the planet.
Stay tuned as we continue to innovate with purpose — and thank you for walking with us on the path to a more sustainable future.
